Abundant blessings

Have you ever wondered if it was possible to live with a grateful heart when that same heart is shattered into a million pieces? Well, I am here to tell you that you can. Today was such an amazing day. My sister-in-law met me unexpectedly at home for a delicious lunch and wonderful conversation. My yard guy (who I’ve known almost all his life) conspired with my son to figure out when I was at work and then put Christmas lights on my house this afternoon; and dear friends brought dinner over for me tonight. I am so full of joy this evening.

It is so easy to get mired down in the sadness of losing my Joe, and sometimes I do. I spend most of my time alone, and I miss him desperately. But I am so very grateful for the incredible people I have in my life.

Of course, everything reminds me of a song. And one of Joe’s favorites was “What You Give” by Tesla.

I am filled with gratitude tonight. Grateful for Kathy, for Cody & Jeffrey, for Chris & Cindy. And for every single person who has picked me up, held me up, and carried me forward. This life really isn’t about what you’ve got. It’s about what you give.

And I have been given the greatest gift of all, love.
